I saw Wu Lyf on the 22nd of November at the Troubadour which was one of my least favorite venues. I had a couple experiences where it was so loud my ears were ringing for the days following. Walking into the Troubadour, I see people standing around chatting, so I go around some people so I can get closer. The Troubadour is already a very small venue, so no matter where you stand, you are typically pretty close to the band. A few minutes after I arrived, Crystal Antlers goes on. At first I sort of got a grunge feel but because the music was louder than the vocals and the lead singer had long-ish hair in his face with a plaid shirt. Crystal Antlers music was loud, but not piercing like the last show I had been to at the Troubadour. They were very good, I really liked their music. I knew one of their songs before going to the concert, Andrew, but they played one song that I really really loved and I have been desperate to find the name of. It was the third song they played, and I just remember loving it. During the break between Crystal Antlers and Wu Lyf, I saw two of the guys from Wu Lyf waving to the crowd from this balcony, where there was lots of curtains, but they weren't behind the curtains. Wu Lyf came on and sounded better than on the album! They were amazing! They said that since it was their last show in America they were going to try really hard to make it a good one, and they did. The lead singer, Ellery Roberts, his voice was so raspy, intricate, and unique in person. It almost didn't sound like a voice, I had never heard such vocal techniques. They not only played all of the songs on the album, but they also did a cover by one of my favorite bands, The Replacements! I was so excited when the bass player announced they were going to do Swingin Party. The bass player sung the song, and it sounded extremely similar to The Replacements; they did not put much of a twist on it, but I assume they weren't going for that. It was such a fun concert for me because the band and the audience fed off of each others energy really well. Their was crowd surfing and a mosh pit, and during their finale song, We Bros Ellery Roberts dove into the crowd! Their finale song of the night, We Bros, along with Dirt, Cave Song, and Summas Bliss were my favorite songs of the night. I liked how Ellery introduced all his band mates to the crowd because I thought it was seet. The reason I liked Wu Lyf's music a lot better in concert verse the recording of it was because the drum sound was much more prominent. Their drummer was amazing! He just really appeared to enjoy the moment. To be honest I am not sure what it was about him, I just thought that the sound he was making from the drums was very good. If I knew how to play drums, I am sure I would be able to articulate it better so sorry for that. At the end of the concert, I bought a T Shirt and one of the members from Crystal Antlers was behind the counter, I am not really sure what he was doing but he was wearing a Black Flag T-shirt which I thought was cool because I like some of Black Flag's stuff. I heard prior to the concert from a couple people that Wu Lyf was really hit or miss as a live act, but for me they were a hit, a huge hit, so I guess the part of them being a potential miss is irrelevant. I rate it 10/10!

Review on Beirut Concert!
Oh gee, where to start with Beirut. I was so happy when I found out they were playing at The Greek because it is an outdoor venue and nothing sounded better to me than seeing Beirut play in an outdoor venue. The opening act, had very beautiful music, but was a bit boring to me because I was so excited for the main act. Overall, I think The Greek was too big a venue for them. I wish there was a smaller outdoor venue that they could have played at because it was at least 300 seats too big for them. Beirut was very very good in concert, they played nearly all the songs I liked by them, except Guyamas Sonora. Actually, there were quite a few people in the audience shouting it and asking Zach Condon to play it, but he did not... They were just as good in concert as they are on disc, and the instruments sounded just as beautiful as I was hoping. Zach Condon was actually really funny, I don't know I just was surprised. It is not that I expected him to be not funny but I did not no expect him to be funny either. He was constantly making jokes and I personally love when the singers and the band member(s) give off comfortable vibes. There was this one guy in the band, who kept calling everything "the shit". I am not kidding! Nearly every time he spoke, it was usually about something or another band and he kept referring to it/them as "the shit". It got a bit annoying after a while in my opinion but looking back it makes me laugh. Beirut was very very good in concert and I suggest you see them.
I rate it 9/10!

Review on Bon Iver Concert!
Wow! It was much better than I expected and very different than I expected too. The opening act was this band I had never heard of before the concert called, Other Lives. I really liked them in concert, but then I downloaded a few of their songs after and they sounded a lot more country then I remember, but they have very interesting music, I like them. It was a good opening act, they were similar to Bon Iver, but not too similar, they also had the same (or a bit lower) energy level which is also good. Now, before I start with reviewing Bon Iver, I have a short story to tell. It was held at an auditorium and we were sitting in seats, which I was not used to because all of the concerts I had been to pre-Bon Iver I was standing in a pit or something. My friend and I were in row 32 and then when Bon Iver came on we saw some empty seats in row 7 or something like that, so we took those... not that interesting but it made it a lot better. I loved his voice, I could not get over how amazing it was in person it was a lot more powerful. The band had a lot of people in it playing all different types of instruments which I really like. I was, and still am very curious how he visioned all of those instruments and how he wanted them to sound. I think it is amazing that he could do all of that in his head! I think of Bon Iver as having very calm low-energy songs but their concert was so much more "rock 'n' roll" than I expected. No crowd surfing or guitar smashing, it was a lot more civil than that, but I just remember at one point he was down on his knees playing his guitar and feeding of the crowds energy and the music. Afterwords, everyone stood up and clapped, except the people in the pit because they were already standing. I also enjoyed and liked a lot of songs that I did not know. They did not really play too many songs I like by them so I was disappointed there, they played only three or four. They did a cover of this song by Bjork and it was very good. I rate it 8.5/10!

Review on My Morning Jacket Concert
I am so so sorry this took so long for me to post. I saw them July 2nd or 3rd, I think.... :/ So I was on vacation for the 4th of July weekend and my dad's friend said do you know this band? I said, yes. She then replied, do you want to see them in concert with me tomorrow? I couldn't say no, because it is not like I had anything else to do. I was on vacation in a small town with my parents. So I went, and I knew of My Morning Jacket and few of there songs, but I would not call myself a fan. I went and it was definitely enjoyable and better than being at home. I really did enjoy some of their songs, but not enough to listen to at home. I would really only rate this concert 5/10 (Average) but I am going to rate them 5.5/10 because I really love them members of the band. It was so interesting to see them play live because out of all the bands I have ever seen in concert, they were the ones who appeared to be to most passionate about what they do and the music they played. It was just really eye-opening because you could physically see that they really loved what they did, by the way they played, their small gestures and looks they gave on stage and their personality as well. I am not saying that all the other bands I have seen in concert do not have passion for their music, they just translated it to the audience really well in my opinion. It was also kind of funny, the lead singer, Jim James had all these funny gadgets that he would change around throughout the show. He had one around is neck and it was electronic and then he had this keyboard like thing, I don't know it's kind of hard to explain, it was just really funny. I rate it 5.5/10

Review on The Arctic Monkeys Concert!
I saw them June 3rd, and I am so sorry this review is so so late. It just seems to keep slipping my mind. So, here we go! First of all, I came half way into the opening act which was, The Vaccines. I really liked The Vaccines, over all. I thought they sounded similar to the Arctic Monkeys, but it wasn't so similar that they were the same. I remember I once went to a concert, I cannot remember which one right now, but the opening act was too similar to the main act that the opening act almost over shadowed the main act! And that is not good, well you get to see a good band which is always fun, but it isn't good for the main act! The Venue I saw them at was the Hollywood Palladium, and I was there once before, and it is not my favorite Venue, The Music Box is my favorite. Then The Wiltern, maybe followed by The Hollywood Bowl or The Troubador, or The Palladium. Anyways, I thought that the Arctic Monkeys picked a fantastic opening act. I will probably post a few songs by The Vaccines soon, because I really liked some of their music, and it sounds the same in person as on tape which is also excellent! Now, on to the main act, The Arctic Monkeys. I went into the concert with the preconception that they wouldn't be too great, because I really only liked two of their songs before- I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor, and Fluorescent Adolescent- but I came out of the concert liking quite a few more of their songs. They were very good in concert! I really enjoyed the night. Also I think I had a brief spotting of Alexa Chung, which really makes it all the better. Continuing on, It is a concert worth going to! Again, even a lot of the songs I didn't know I was able to have fun to and dance around to, overall if you like them I suggest you go see them. I don't know if you all know the website: setlist fm, you type in the name of any artist and it shows you their average setlist for their concerts. I learned that most artists have a setlist because when I saw the Raveonettes, I saw a piece of paper taped to the floor next to where they sang. I love it when Artists do not follow the setlist and play extra or different songs, so I really loved how The Arctic Monkeys did that! My favorite song of the night was I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor (they have played it 187 times according to this website, ermm I can't imagine playing the same song 187 times, they must be so sick of it) I also enjoyed She's Thunderstorms (from there newest album 'Suck it and See') I also liked Pretty Visitors and Crying Lightning was nice too. I love it when bands end with one of your favorite songs by them, they ended with Fluorescent Adolescent, so the concert ended on a very good note. The only thing that would have made the night better was if I knew more of their songs, was a bigger fan (though I am a fan, just not an extreme fan), and if they played Old Yellow Bricks... I found out about that song shortly after the concert and I adore it. I rate it 8/10!

Review of The Kills Concert
The Kills Concert was so amazing! Definitely one of the best concerts I have ever been to! Actually it was the second best, sorry Alison and Jamie, but no one can beat The xx. Alison Mosshart! No words describe how good she was on stage. It was real rock n' roll. Her hair was in her face most of the concert and she was constantly flipping her head and her body up and down. So cool. I also really liked her outfit. She was wearing black jeans, with boots, a long white shirt with holes in it, and this really cool polo shirt jacket thing with an american flag/texas looking flag on it. Anyway I loved her outfit. And Jamie Hince! He was amazing at the guitar, it sounded exactly like it does on tape. When they played 'Future Starts Slow' the sound was amazing. A lot of bands cannot get the same sound frequency because of the room they are playing in or the way they recorded it, but The Kills sounded amazing. Alison's voice was so good. Better in person! It was so real and loud and in your face (in an amazing way). Even the songs that they played that I did not know I enjoyed, but I have to say my favorite song of the night was Tape Song. I got really into it and so did they, also it is one of my favorite songs by The Kills. The only thing that would have made the concert better was if they played Black Balloon, Last Day Of Magic, or Cheap and Cheerful. Still, it was incredible. They really put on a show and entertained the crowd. If they stop in your city, you have to see them. HAVE TO. Also the band that opened for them, Cold Cave, they were really good too. The guy on the keyboard was crazy it was a great great opening act. Overall rating: 9/10!

Reviews on The Raveonettes Concert!
I saw The Raveonettes in concert last night, and I enjoyed it, but I think I would have like it a lot more if it weren't so loud. It was a little too loud for my liking. I could plug my ears with my fingers, and it was still too loud! Otherwise it was... Okay! I like them better on tape, but I adored what Sharin Foo was wearing (she's the girl with blonde hair above) her outfit was this blue velevet dress with random sparkles, I guess you could call them, and her hair! I want her hair! Also I was sick when I went (that is how badly I wanted to see them) so that was probably the other reason it wasn't my favorite concert otherwise, it probably would have been. Also, they didn't play too many of the songs I like by them. They didn't play Breaking Into Cars, Wine, Last Dance, Love In a Trashcan, All Boys Who Rape (Should Be Destroyed), or As You Lay Asleep! So overall, I am sad to say I was disappointed, and when you do not know the songs that they play at a concert it is much less enjoyable, in my opinion. When they played songs I did know like: Heart Of Stone, Aly Walk With Me, Lust, Dead Sound, Forget That Your Young, War In Heaven, and Recharge & Revolt, it was great, but too loud! Overall Rating: 4/10

UPDATES ON CONCERTS 3

Actually before I review how great the concert was I must tell you a story. So My two friends and I were originally sitting in the Way in the back on the balcony. Then we begged are ways to the standing area, and we got in. The Florence opened with "The Drumming Song," but I could not see or really hear her. Two 6 feet tall me were in front of me (I am 5 feet tall). So I could not see. Then this fat drunk lady was next to me yelling off-key to every single word of her first 4 songs! It was awful! Then my luck turned for the best, a lady who worked at the concert comes up to me and says "Do you and your friends want to come to the front row?" Then, we went to the very front row! Why did she come to me? I do not know! But I find it funny how we went from the very back row to the very front! How Lucky!
I actually liked her better in person! Her songs are beautiful and even though she is not my favorite artist, I have to admit I liked her so much more after I saw her in concert! Her voice is beautiful! She also sung a brand new song, that I cannot remember the name of. One of the better concerts that I have been to. I was close enough to touch her (well kind of, but that sounds better)! I am so happy I went, even if you are not a huge fan, I suggest you see her in concert.

UPDATE ON CONCERTS 2

Ra Ra Riot Concert:
They were very good, sadly they did not play all my favorite song's by them! They did not play Each Year or Winter '05, they played much more songs from their recent album The Orchard which was peaceful but boring. In the end the lead singer dove into the crowd during their song Dying is Fine it was definitely entertaining
Opening Acts of Ra Ra Riot:
The Villagers: Beautiful lyrics! But let's just say I sat down during their show... after the first opening act, they were a bore
The Givers: Look them up! Maybe even better than Ra Ra Riot! I bought their CD which was great! I bought their CD which was great and they were even better in concert! I LOVE THEM! Although, the lead male singer's eyes kept rolling in his head while they were on stage, I could not tell if he was stoned, or if it was part of the act. I talked to him briefly during an intermission and let's just say, I think he was stoned.... Also, the lead girl singers voice is beautiful!
Overall Rating: 7/10

UPDATE ON CONCERTS

They put on a very entertaining show! At first it was great and interesting, but after a while all their songs sounded the same...
Opening Acts of Vampire Weekend:
Beach House: Not as good in person, but they did great when they sung Celine Dion's Zebra.
The Very Best: Were definitely not the best.
Overall Rating: 6/10!

Review On The xx Concert
It is really sad how obsessed one can be with a band. One my favorite Band is the xx!
The xx
I love their album. Their music is pretty mellow, but I like it a lot. My friend and I were lucky enough to go to their concert. It was truly that one night that was perfection. The xx is so amazing in person, if you have the chance to see them, and like them (if you don't you have awful taste in music) but you must go see them. I love all of their songs, and the two lead singers, Romy and Oliver both have amazing voices! Above are some pictures from their concert I went to about a month ago. Sorry they're a bit blurry! I rate it 10/10!
Top 5 Songs by the xx:
1. Hear Skipped A Beat
2. Stars
3. Shelter
4. Intro
5. Islands
