Happy 69th Birthday George!

It is/would be George Harrison's 69th birthday today. I am posting about his song from, All Things Must Pass, 'Isn't It A Pity'. This is my favorite song off of All Things Must Pass, which is saying a lot from me because not only is it one of the best albums of all time, but it is also one of my favorites, in which I listen to tracks from it everyday or so. I could really listen to this song all day. I was talking to this woman in my painting class today, and she was talking about how George was her favorite Beatle, and it was interesting that the people who overheard our conversation agreed. I love him for many reasons, he sung and wrote my favorite Beatle's songs, he came out with awesome albums following the break up of The Beatles, but he was also a very intelligent person who said some of the smartest things I've ever read (via internet). I also admire how he chose to spend his life, you know, he really did not take it for granted, and he made something of it. He seemed like a very creative mind as well as a very passionate person, which I think anyone can and should admire. This is one of, if not my favorite quote of all time, said by George:

"It's being here now that's important. There's no past and there's no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can't relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don't know if there is one."

For all those who like fashion, music, reading, or just quality picture books. Oh, and especially for the small population of those adore the biggest band ever that is loved world wide, The Beatles. Fab Gear tells the story of the Beatles, but if you are going to tell the story right, a good amount of it must include their icon fashion. I received this book over the holidays and am currently on the last chapter, and I, who am not the biggest reader in the world can't seem to put it down too often. Weather you want to hear the background story about  John, Paul, George, and Ringo developing their own unique fashion taste or you just want to see rare pictures, this book fits both interests perfectly. The Beatles adoration of fashion and their musical influence allowed them to (although they are more known for changing music) alter fashion trends which still have effect to this day. This book goes in depth as how their fashion sense evolved from jeans and leather jackets, to suits, to the androgynous hippie trend. With of course leaving in a full chapter just to discuss the bands hair. How did four middle class Liverpool boys afford to look so chic? Would their rise to fame be different if Brian Epstein didn't convince The Beatles to drop the Teddy Boy look? Any questions about The Beatles style choice, from Why they chose it? to What did they chose? or if you already know, maybe you just want to know What were 'drainies'? I promise, these questions will no longer wander throughout the depths of your brain because all stylistic choices and thoughts behind them of The Beatles will be explained in Paolo Hewitt's book, Fab Gear.

RIP George Harrison

As we all know, George Harrison was a musical genius. I have thought of a few ways of to make this post and a few different things to say. As we all know, he was in the greatest band of all time, The Beatles. He not only wrote some of their best songs, but then continued to have a phenomenal solo career. I like George because I think it was very cool how much music and his morals and beliefs meant to him. He was very passionate, and I admire nearly all people who are extremely passionate. He died ten years ago. He had an extraordinary life and he just did everything and tried everything. I think he took a strong fascination in life and everything about it; you know, the meaning of it and I think he took a huge interest in trying to figure it out. Above is one of my favorite George Harrison photographs and below is one of my favorite George Harrison quotes. This quote changed my perception of life and time, because it is so true and it is very obvious and all, but they way he puts it and the fact that very few people actually think to say it makes is so genius to me.

George Harrison: Living In A Material World

If you hate the Beatles (although people who say that are stupid/ want to be different for attention) I suggest you see this movie. If you dislike George Harrison (again, only ignorant people) I suggest you see this movie. If you like the Beatles and/or George Harrison, I highly suggest you see this movie. I think it really depicts George's life very well. George Harrison, is personally my favorite Beatle because I love his songs from when he was in The Beatles, but I also love his solo work. He also was extremely smart, and funny and said some of my favorite quotes, and that is why I loved this movie.  Though, regardless of the fact that I loved this movie, I still have some critic for it. I think that certain parts of his life was paid too much attention to, while some were completely skipped over! His album, Cloud Nine, which is a very amazing, and was a success was not mentioned! There was no mention of George's 'curiosity' with other women it was only hinted at a bit my Paul McCartney, but he did not go into depth because he said something like: "You know, he is my mate so I can't say much". But I still think he was a very good documentary. Here is a link to the trailer. And when can you see it if you haven't? Ahh they are playing where I live tomorrow, and I am not seeing them because it is a school night and I am going to a concert Tuesday night (Beirut) which is also a school night so they do not want to me to go to two concerts in one week. Ermm they're annoying. I really would have liked to see them, but I am not too angry because I am seeing a screening for the new George Harrison documentary that is going to be released soon, and I am so excited because George is my favorite Beatle. All You Need Is Love- The Beatles

I think everyone in the world knows this song and every word to it. I just think it is so genius and I truly do love it. It is one of my favorite songs of all time, if not my favorite. I love this one, but I also think Jim Strugess does a great version of it in one of my favorite movies, Across The Universe. Highly suggest you watch it. PLEASE JUST WATCH THE JIM STRUGESS VERSION. It's so nicely done and beautiful. The acting and music is amazing, but does not top The Beatles. I Miss John and George.
