In My Life- The Beatles

In My Life- The Beatles

There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

This song really speaks to me, and basically explains in song my feelings. *Fact: I am one of those people who's past is very important to them, and I think about this very thing all the time. The first two paragraphs speak to me the most, in fact on my itunes, I have playlists categorized by memories: one for people, one for places, and one for both. Some songs make me cry because I miss them so much and some make me laugh. I find it funny the memories we humans keep. Do not get me wrong when I say the following, but most of the memories I remember are happy. I have gone through pain and depression in my life so far, but I can still find happiness when I look back on most years of my life. I do not relate myself to the lyrics in the song having to do with "lovers" because I have never been in love, but I think of friends that I have lost or friendships that have ended. It seems as though as time slips away memories loose their meaning bit by bit and fade more and more over time. I like songs that are like this, that explain how I feel because I am not too great at doing it myself. Thank you John, Paul, Ringo, and George, for explaining it for me.
